Emotional well-being for big and little minds

Does your child feel anxious?

Emotional well-being for children

We use a highly effective yet simple model for helping children understand their emotions and see how each one of them helps us in every moment of their lives. This model which is used in the “Ollie and his Superpowers” series helps children by giving them control of their emotional state and giving their parents a visual language for talking about what’s happening in the moment.

Confidence for young persons

Young people can have a tough time feeling understood by the adults around them, their siblings or by their peers. They can feel the burden of expectations and yet it can be hard to know what’s going on inside or what to do in order to move on.

Our coaches give young people the space to be themselves and listened to; we’re on their side. We support them on the road to becoming confident young adults.

FAQs

What does a session look like?

Sessions can be conducted either in person with one coach or online via Zoom.

In person sessions normally take place either in children’s homes, in schools, or in consulting rooms in Shrewsbury or London.

Each session will normally last up to 50 minutes although the first session is usually planned for up to 80 minutes.

Will the session be confidential?

Every session is treated in confidence. We will not divulge information to third parties without the client’s consent, except for situations in which UK law or professional standards require us to do so.

We ask parents and guardians to give signed consent to working with children. Information from sessions may be shared with parents if this is deemed beneficial for the child’s progress.

What guarantee is there of success?

It all begins with an introductory meeting to see if you want to work with our coach. This meeting will last around 20 mins and will be free of charge.

We guarantee that the coach will help the client progress towards their mutually agreed goals in every session.

How many sessions do I need?

When working with young persons we would expect to improve well-being within no more than 6 sessions. Typically some positive changes are noticeable after the first session.

Our aim is to provide clients with tools to facilitate self-care and self-development so that they do not need to rely on a coach for long periods of time.

What are your safeguards for working with children?

In the event of safeguarding concerns coaches will proceed with procedures of Subconquest Ltd Safeguarding Policy. This may involve sharing necessary and relevant information with local authorities.

How do you work with teenagers?

In addition to parental consent, adolescents can be invited to sign their own consent form to working with a coach.

What is your quality standard?

As Registered Ollie Coaches we are committed to upholding the ethical and professional standards of coaches as defined in the Standards of Ethics of Subconquest Ltd.

All of our coaches have DBS enhanced disclosure certificates for coaching of young persons and vulnerable adults.

Testimonials

“I approached 'Matrix Consulting' regarding my 10 year old daughter's issues with anxiety. I found Jan to be very understanding and empathic in his approach to the of the delicate nature of working with a child’s emotions. As their sessions progressed, the feedback from my daughter was very positive. She looked forward to each new session and she said she found Jan to be "good fun" to work with and that she enjoyed the exercises they did together, particularly the ones involving art. As as result of their work together, my daughter’s anxiety has lessened considerably and she has become much more articulate in expressing her emotions.”
